Key Seminar Topics Include:
- The Foundations of Tribal Sovereignty
- A Primer on Tribal Governance and Governments
- Stereotypes! What to Say and What Not to Say
- Secrets to Success: Non-Indigenous & Indigenous Partnerships
- The Native Know-How Experience
The Native Know How (NKH) Seminar provides valuable resources, insights, and perspectives from diverse Native nations throughout the United States. Participants will benefit from the extensive experience of the Native Nations Institute team, a group of Indigenous professionals who have collaborated with over 130 tribes.
Join this knowledgeable team to discover how your organization can effectively engage with tribal communities and enhance your relationships with Native peoples and governments within your service area.
A recent participant shared, “The sessions emphasized the importance of humility, self-education, and the need to inquire about each tribe’s operational preferences. For instance, our team collaborates with various tribal councils to understand how they prefer to request local data for health and education evaluations, acknowledging that this process varies among tribes. We will return to the tribes to accurately interpret and contextualize the data, focusing on community strengths and working towards long-term tribal objectives.”
