During this program\, he will share examples from\nacross the region\, including features located in the woods at Hilltop Hanover Farm. \nEvent Details\n\nDate: Saturday\, November 14\, 2026\nTime: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (EST)\nLocation: Hilltop Hanover Farm & Environmental Center\n1271 Hanover Street\, Yorktown Heights\, NY 10598\nTickets: $17.85\nPresenter: Rob Buchanan\n\nAbout the Presentation\nThe forests of the Lower Hudson Valley contain stone walls\, arrangements\, piles\,\nboulders\, and other landscape features whose origins and meanings have prompted\nconsiderable research and debate. \nIn this approximately one-hour presentation\, Rob Buchanan will discuss\ndistinctive examples he has documented and the evidence used by researchers who interpret\nsome of these features as connected to Native American cultural landscapes. \nThe presentation will include examples found at Hilltop Hanover Farm\nand will also address threats facing historic stone landscapes and efforts to document\nand preserve them. \nOptional Guided Hike\nFollowing the indoor presentation\, participants may join Buchanan for an\noptional 1.5–2 hour hike along the farm’s trails to view several\nstone features in their landscape setting. \nGuests planning to participate in the hike should come prepared for outdoor trail\nconditions and wear appropriate footwear and clothing. \nAbout Rob Buchanan\nRob Buchanan is an independent researcher who has been a member of the\nNew England Antiquities Research Association (NEARA) for more than 20 years\nand currently serves as its Treasurer. \nBuchanan has led NEARA conferences and regional field trips and has presented his research\nto museums and community organizations.
